Custom equipment, engineered and built under one roof
Sometimes the machine you need doesn't exist — or the one you have needs to do something its maker never intended. Mobile Automation's mechanical design and engineering team takes projects from concept sketch to installed, working equipment: 3D CAD design, simulation, fabrication in our own workshop, and commissioning with our electrical and controls teams.

What we design and build
- Custom process equipment — purpose-built machines for tasks off-the-shelf equipment can't do (like the robotic heat-and-dip cell we engineered for Total Tooling's coating process)
- Machine guarding and safety structures — engineered to AS/NZS 4024 alongside our safety engineers
- Frames, platforms and structural steel — machine bases, access platforms, conveyor support structures
- Conveyor and material-handling design — transfers, diverts, accumulation and line integration
- Machine modifications — capacity, speed, product-change and reliability upgrades to existing equipment
3D CAD first, steel second
Design happens in SolidWorks — modelled, simulated and reviewed with your team before fabrication, so clashes and operability problems are found on screen instead of on your floor. Drawings, calculations and compliance documentation are part of the deliverable.
The integration advantage
Mechanical design here never happens in isolation: the same project team covers electrical, controls and robotics, so custom equipment arrives with its control cabinet built, its safety circuit validated and its PLC talking to your line — one project, one team, one commissioning.
Frequently asked questions
Can you modify equipment from an OEM that no longer exists?
Yes — we survey, reverse-engineer and document orphaned machines, then modify or rebuild them with modern, supported components.
Do you do one-off custom machines?
Yes — one-offs are most of the work. Concept, 3D design, build, controls and commissioning, with your operators involved in design reviews.
Who certifies the safety of custom equipment?
We design to AS/NZS 4024, conduct the risk assessment and validate the safety system in-house — documentation included, so your new machine arrives compliant, not 'compliance pending'.
