About the role
We're looking for an Industrial Electrical Engineer to join our high-performing technical team. This role suits a Special Class Electrician or senior technician who is already thinking like an engineer — analysing problems, leading project outcomes, and integrating automation and electrical systems that drive efficiency and reliability. Reporting to our Engineering Manager, you'll work alongside a skilled group of electricians, designers and automation engineers, spanning concept, design, implementation, commissioning and ongoing support in real-world, high-demand industrial settings.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver electrical systems and control solutions for industrial applications, from concept through to commissioning.
- Lead and oversee complex installations, ensuring safety, compliance and technical performance.
- Collaborate with clients to scope solutions that meet operational and compliance needs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to electricians and apprentices in the field.
- Use AutoCAD Electrical to generate and revise schematics, layouts and documentation.
- Assist with PLC/HMI development, VSD configuration and system integration.
- Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS standards, OH&S requirements and site-specific protocols.
What you'll bring
Essential
- A recognised Electrical Engineering degree (or progressing towards one), or equivalent experience in a senior electrical or controls role.
- Minimum 5+ years of industrial experience, ideally across food & beverage, manufacturing or heavy process industries.
- Deep understanding of electrical systems, controls and automation.
- Ability to manage projects from technical planning to on-site execution.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, PLC platforms (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and VSDs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Full Australian working rights and a valid driver's licence.
Highly regarded
- Post-trade qualifications in electrical engineering, automation or control systems.
- Experience with risk assessments and safety systems design (e.g. AS/NZS 4024).
- Background in robot integration or machine vision systems.
Why join Mobile Automation?
- Career progression — step confidently into an engineering career, with pathways into design, automation or project leadership.
- Diverse technical exposure — work across varied industries with robotics, SCADA, PLCs and machine safety systems.
- Supportive engineering culture — learn from some of the best in the business while mentoring others.
- Fully maintained vehicle — included as part of your package for site-based work.
- Employee-focused — we invest in your development and value a culture built on respect, delivery and growth.
If you're ready to apply your trade knowledge at an engineering level and take charge of your technical future, we'd love to hear from you.
