Industrial Robot Systems & Integration

Complete industrial robot cells — designed, simulated, built, powered, programmed and supported by one Victorian team. ABB channel partner; FANUC, KUKA and Yaskawa experience.

Industrial robot systems, integrated end to end

Mobile Automation designs and delivers complete industrial robot systems for Australian manufacturers — six-axis, SCARA and gantry configurations for palletising, welding, machine tending and materials handling. As an ABB channel partner with delivered systems on FANUC, KUKA and Yaskawa platforms, we're platform-agnostic: the application chooses the robot, not the other way around.

Industrial gantry machinery with integrated safety guarding

What makes us different is what surrounds the robot. We're a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC 8904) with our own automation engineers, control cabinet workshop and mechanical team. The switchboard, power supply, PLC integration, guarding, conveyors and commissioning are all delivered by the same company that programs the robot — so there's no gap between "the integrator's scope" and "the electrician's scope" for problems to fall into.

What a complete cell includes

  • Concept and simulation — cycle-time, reach and layout studies before you spend, so throughput is proven on screen first
  • Robot and end-of-arm tooling — custom grippers and tooling for cartons, bags, drums, sheet metal and irregular products
  • Controls and integration — PLC and SCADA integration with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Omron, Mitsubishi, Ignition, WinCC, Citect and FactoryTalk platforms
  • Safety systems to AS/NZS 4024 — risk assessment, guarding, interlocks, scanners and validation, engineered and certified in-house
  • Electrical and mechanical installation — our own electricians and fitters, staged around live production
  • Training and 24/7 support — operator and maintenance training, spares planning, preventative maintenance and local breakdown response

Where industrial robots earn their keep

High-speed palletising and depalletising, robotic MIG/TIG/spot welding, press and CNC tending, heavy or hazardous product handling, and repetitive tasks that are hard to staff. If a task is dull, dirty, dangerous or precise, there's usually a strong business case — typical systems pay back in 12–36 months through labour redeployment, extra shifts, consistency and reduced injury risk.

Built for existing plants, not greenfield brochures

Most of our robotics work goes into plants that are 10–40 years old. Since 1987 we've upgraded, rewired and automated legacy Victorian factories, so integrating a robot cell with your existing conveyors, machines and controls is our normal day — not a special request.

Frequently asked questions

Which industrial robot brands do you work with?

We're an ABB channel partner and have delivered systems on FANUC, KUKA and Yaskawa platforms, plus Universal Robots for collaborative applications. We recommend the platform that best fits your payload, reach, speed and support requirements.

How long does an industrial robot project take?

Typical cells run 3–6 months from order to production, depending on tooling complexity and lead times. We build and factory-test off-site where possible, so installation windows on your floor are short and can be staged around shutdowns.

Can you integrate a robot with our existing line and PLCs?

Yes. Controls integration is our core trade — we program all major PLC and SCADA platforms and have nearly four decades of experience in Victorian plants. The robot will talk to your existing equipment properly.

What about safety compliance?

Every cell we deliver includes a documented risk assessment and safety system designed, installed and validated to AS/NZS 4024 — guarding, interlocks, light curtains and scanners as the assessment requires. We also remediate existing non-compliant robot installs.

Do you support the system after commissioning?

Yes — training, spares, preventative maintenance and 24/7 breakdown support from local technicians. Robotics clients get the same emergency response our electrical maintenance clients rely on.
