Vision-guided handling for production and packaging lines
Between the process and the pallet sits a lot of repetitive handling: picking product off conveyors, packing cartons, erecting boxes, kitting and assembly. Mobile Automation delivers robotic pick & place and packing systems — vision-guided, line-tracking and washdown-capable where needed — that take that handling off your labour roster.
Applications we deliver
- Case and carton packing — collating and packing product into cartons, trays and shelf-ready packaging
- Carton erecting — we deployed Australia's first collaborative robot box erector: small footprint, no fencing, 0.1mm repeatability, all box sizes
- Conveyor pick & place — vision-located product picked from moving lines and oriented for the next process
- Assembly, kitting and screwdriving — precision cobot tasks with force sensing and Robotiq tooling
- Quality inspection — camera-based checking integrated into the handling step
Food-grade and hygiene-sensitive environments
Much of our packing automation goes into food and beverage plants — hygienic design, washdown considerations, food-grade contact materials and compliance with site QA requirements are familiar territory, backed by decades of electrical and automation work in Victorian food manufacturing.
Part of a connected line, not an island
Pick & place cells only perform when the upstream and downstream equipment cooperates — conveyors, checkweighers, labellers, wrappers, and the palletiser at the end. Because we design the controls, run the electrical and build the mechanical, we deliver the whole flow: one integrated line, one contractor, with SCADA visibility and 24/7 support included.
Frequently asked questions
Can robots handle delicate or variable products?
Yes — soft grippers, vacuum tooling and force-limited cobots handle bakery, fresh produce and fragile products daily. Vision systems deal with variable position and orientation; we test your actual product in tooling trials before committing.
Is robotic packing viable at our line speed?
Cobots suit low-to-medium rates; delta and SCARA robots handle high-speed picking. The assessment and simulation stage confirms achievable rates with your product before you spend.
Can the same cell handle multiple products and formats?
Yes — recipe-driven changeover is standard. Vision guidance plus quick-change tooling means format change is minutes, not shifts.
Does it integrate with our existing packaging equipment?
That's the point of using us: we integrate with your conveyors, checkweighers, labellers, wrappers and ERP/SCADA — we program the PLCs and run the power ourselves.
